Susan Hubley's new body of work is as dynamic as ever, as she combines her vivid use of colour with a strong allusion to both how landscape and flora seem to deliberately and naturally organize themselves. During a career that spans more than 35 years, Halifax expressionist painter Susan Hubley has earned a singular reputation for her exuberant usage of colour, fluid sense of form, and distinctive compositions. Susan observes patterns in nature that she vividly interprets in her paintings, whether depicting an autumn landscape, a garden scene, or a vase of flowers. Her unrestrained use of colour and strong sense of form make her work always recognizable. As a young artist, Susan studied at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and with many well-known Nova Scotian painters, including John Cook, Anthony Law, Arthur Lloy, and Jane Shaw. Her floral and landscape subjects also reflect the influences of French masters Henri Matisse and Raoul Dufy, as well as that of many great Canadian landscape painters. Her work has been widely collected both in Canada and internationally. This section is under construction until we get closer to the opening date. Please stand by, we are almost there.
