Harpoon Tips, 1999
In the olden days there were only harpooners who caught swordfish, the very opposite of today’s modern rigging. In time the Harpooners got pushed to the edge of the fishery until in the 1990s there were only catching 5% to 10% of the Canadian quota. These are the iron tips which were used to harpoon swordfish; this image depicts a personal collection that resides in Nova Scotia.
