A native of Nova Scotia, Judy Arsenault has lived for many years in Maitland, on the beautiful Fundy shore. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in the '80s from the Nova Scotia College of Fine Art & Design University. Although she is currently a painter, Judy also studied printmaking at NSCAD. Twenty years of living in Maitland has greatly influenced her painting. She has found the power and the energy of nature's tides, the change of the seasons, and the rhythms of nature to be very compelling. Exploring landscape themes with a focus on abstraction, she strives to make the plein air tradition of painting relevant to her artistic practice by maintaining a tension between the subject matter and her personal painting style. Currently working in the mediums of acrylic and encaustic, she strives for looseness, movement, and an unfinished quality.
