This piece, the third in the 'Lake of Sky' roundels, depicts the southeastern sky over Halifax on the evening of Mid-winter in 2011.(February 2nd)The asterison called the winter hexigon is featured in a pattern of dichroic glass circles. Each of these circles represents one of the brightest stars in the winter sky, as well as the brightest star in a constellation. The belt of stars from the constellation Orion is present as a wayfinding feature. The cardinal point (SE) and the equatorial gridlines are etched into the surface of the glass with diamond point and sandblasting.
