I think every harbour, where there are boats has one of these. The landlubber who buys a retired boat with high hopes and dreams of world cruising. Which, in reality, often are a series of misadventures, costly to participants and sometimes the bystanders. This is the proverbial “hole in the ocean”, boarded by owners and friends, and is the scene of merriment under a fireworks filled sky on Halls Harbour Day Fair 1991. This annual festive day consists of dory races, a tug of war, chicken barbeque, variety show, and is concluded by fireworks on the beach near the main wharf. This story was told to me by the firemen,who is shown firing a flare.
