Since graduating from Mount Allison University with a BFA with Honours in 1969, Richard has had a remarkably diverse career as an artist. He has exhibited extensively, and has created many commissioned works. Although primarily a sculptor, he has explored a variety of media, and has integrated sound, light, and motion into many of his sculptural and installation projects. References to ancient cultures often influence his compelling work, and in this exhibition he returns to carving in marble, a traditional, if not ancient, medium for sculptors that he has explored at many times during his career. His work is always filled with fascinating and subtle references to the natural world and our timeless relationship to it.
