Asha Robertson's formal education started at age 15, when she began mentorship with professional sculptor, Kathy Venter. During this four year period, they focused primarily on building life-size terracotta figures. This set a strong foundation for further education in sculpture, which took Asha to the school of the Art Institute of Chicago where she completed her pre-collage program in sculpture. She then attended the Alberta College of Art & Design, majoring in sculpture. She explored many interdisciplinary techniques for the next four years, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 2003. A great deal of her inspiration comes from time spent on the road, viewing her changing surroundings "I take a very sculptural approach to building each painting. This allows it not to be restricted to one material - I enjoy exploring different components to portray the layered qualities of my work."
